| Buffy Star Visits The Mayhew Animal
Home Anthony Stewart Head, the British star
of 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer', is best known for helping young Buffy to defeat the powers
of darkness in the huge cult TV show. As the earnest tweed-clad librarian Giles, or 'The
Watcher', his knowledge of the ancient art of vampire-thwarting helps the heroine save
civilisation as we know it.
In a new challenge, Anthony has opened up a
ground - breaking centre for dog and horse 'whispering' on an estate near Bath the
first of its kind in the UK. By way of research and development for this venture, Anthony
and his partner, Sarah Fisher recently visited The Mayhew Animal Home in London to meet
some of the residents.
Anthony Stewart Head said: "I thoroughly
enjoyed myself and was impressed by everything I saw at The Home. I especially liked the
kennels and it was obvious that The Mayhew dogs do also!" |

The type of
alternative treatment that the centre in Bath will offer was first brought to public
attention in Nicholas Evans's best-selling book, 'The Horse Whisperer'. It encompasses a
simple kind of physical psychiatry for animals, and is claimed to address stress, sadness,
separation anxiety and fear of thunder, amongst other nervous complaints.
The BBC has recently commissioned a
British-based spin-off of the Buffy show, called The Watcher, which Buffy's creator, Joss
Whedon, is writing. Now that Anthony is back at home with his partner Sarah Fisher and
their two daughters, he hopes to divide his time between acting and working with animals
that have behavioural problems.
