Holly

Holly is carrying tension through her ears, across her head and around her muzzle. Note the stress lines around her face.

The slip lead has been changed to a TTouch lead using two points of contact on a collar and a harness to reduce tension on the neck and gentle ear slides are used to help Holly relax.

The pictures above were taken a few minutes apart and the change in Holly's posture and appearance is noticeable

We may initiate contact with a dressage schooling stick which we call a wand

If a dog is nervous about direct hand contact, or threatened by a person being too close, we may initiate contact with a dressage schooling stick which we call a wand. A wrap can be wound around the end of the wand to accustom the dog to different textures. We can also use this to start gently moving the skin or roll the wand and wrap lightly over the body.

Tail work

Tail Work is fantastic for dogs that are noise sensitive, tail chew or tail chase. If you cannot handle your dog around the hindquarters, start working on the shoulders and use slow Zig Zags along the back. Watch your dog's responses at all times.

Hairslides

Hair Slides can be a useful step to introducing body work to touch sensitive dogs. Hair Slides are also beneficial for dogs that are sensitive to being groomed.
